Hand 1: I check-raise the flop there.

Hand 2: I think raising the flop is your best play.

I have no interest in discussing strategy with a protege'. Your job is to remain quiet and listen. I have a very systematic approach that I will share with the right candidate and I promise that I will turn you into a force of nature and show you elements of the game of poker that you never knew existed.

Heads up, I generally play hand 1 the same, value betting rather than maximum hand protection.

Hand 2, If you want to protect your hand, call the flop and bet/raise the turn. I don't know why everyone likes the flop raise.

Why donk a PF Capper you actually think he is going to cap PF then check the flop if you have an example of someone doing this I would be impressed...

My reasoning for the c/r on the flop is 99.9% of players after capping PF are going to bet any flop… with your over pair you probably have the best hand and if he 3 bets you, then you save bets by finding out you need to slow down on the small bet rounds rather then putting in 3bb on the turn or something if say a blank hit and realizing you ran into KK or AA or a set, you basically save 1.5bb on the turn alone if you raise the flop and get 3 bet is the FD going to 3bet maybe if he is SUPER argo… is the SD going to 3 bet even less likely on this board… that leaves you with an over pair or the 8… so you find out in the cheap street where your hand is, especially limit you basically make a decision about how the next 2 streets are going to play given particular range of cards that will hit… I just like to play the flop c/r here as a double edge sword, you might have the best hand at the moment and if you are not sure where your opponent is you gain information.

that's my reasoning for a c/r there

I donk the flop here many times and only for one reason: For information. If he raises he does exactly what we expect a prelfop capper to do, and it also limits his range down. We thus go into call down mode and avoid putting in more bets on bigger streets and when we are behind. Its also highly possible that villain would fold to a checkraise because of the strength but will call down with Ace high (I know the chances of me calling are higher).

Also, given the line of the Check/raise on the flop, your opponent is going to wait until the turn anyway (most times) to reraise you and then you just put in more bets when behind.

In hand 1, I like donking this flop against aggressive players who will raise AK in that spot so you can put in a 3rd bet. c/ring is just going to freeze up hands you beat at 2 bets and reasonably good players will find an extra bet against you, but will take your bet/3-bet line very seriously. No way I'm dreaming of a fold without a big read.
