Would appreciate comments on this one. Sorry, no hand history available. I'm playing $0.50/$1 HE at Bugsys Club, an ungodly number of premium hands are getting dealt to everyone (but me), and the PFR's are flying.
I limp in on an unraised pot from MP with QJo. I know it's a weak holding but I haven't played anything other than my blinds for the last 20+ minutes. BB raises. I have seen him PFR with KK and JJ so I'm worried, but there's multiway action (QJ can catch a straight) and I'm already in so I call.
Flop is Qxx and BB bets. I raise to get heads-up, he 3-bets. Should I fold? I have him on high pockets, so I have 5 outs to improve and he has 2. Unless he has QQ in which case I'm drawing dead. The pot is now giving me about 12:1 so I call.
Turn is a blank, he bets. I guess my odds are pretty bad now, maybe I should fold. But I just read 2+2's Small Stakes Hold 'Em book and they recommend against folding a strong hand when the pot is big, because there's always a chance the guy's bluffing with say, JJ. I call.
The river is a blank, he bets. 2+2 says the biggest mistake is to fold on the river when the pot's huge. So I call. Not surprisingly, the guy has aces.
Okay, so I had odds to see the turn, and I was sucked in on the turn and river by 2+2's advice, despite my gut feeling I was beat. In the long run, the theory is that I will eventually drag a giant pot by calling someone's bluff on the river, and that will repay my losses on hands like this one (-$4.50).
But I would welcome your views on any points I might have missed.
Thanks in advance.
