Here is one sample hand from B&M yesterday. I want advice on my play regardless of the result (trying to train myself to not be too results oriented. doesnt work most of the time !!).
Table is mostly fishy with 2 aggressive players. One of these aggros have shown down A8o and had raised preflop UTG
Hero is As - Qc in MP2
UTG raises, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, Hero 3 bets, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls.
Flop: Kc-10c-4d
UTG+1 bets, MP1 calls, Hero calls, Button calls, SB calls
Turn: Kc-10c-4d-Jc
UTG+1 bets, MP1 calls, Hero raises, Button calls, SB calls (all in).
River: Kc-10c-8d-Jc -10d
UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero checks, Button checks
Button shows Q-9o for lower straight. Hero wins sidepot of 2 BB.
SB shows 5-7c for flush. wins MONSTER POT !!
----------------
my question is:
1) Did my raise on turn when the flush card hits any good ? arent only people calling my bets already have the flush or at least 1 of them has it.
2) Should I bet the river to get some money in the side pot. ?

I think i bet that river...although since the board paired you might be just as good with the check.

You should raise pre flop to get out the 57
But, not only should you raise the turn, but bet the river. You missed a bet on the end.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Sounds like you're playing scared. You're very likely ahead on the turn and even if you're not you've got a flush draw to the second nuts. On the river no one has given you any reason to believe you're beat so bet.

He did...The 57 still called.
Meh...tough pot. I agree that betting is probably the best line but i'll admit that I get skittish too when I see a flush AND a paired board with a str8.

Superb play sir...I always call 20% of my stack off with a gutshot draw. Excuse me while I race for my wallet.

not only did i raise i actually 3bet pre flop and sb still stayed in. I was incorrect to not bet the river i realise. i only had to be better than the other 1 player to win the side pot.

With the flush and straights on the board, in my opinion, no re-raise by the remaining players (who aren't all in) shows they dont have a flush... or at least a weak flush. With the two checks, I'd raise and then just smooth call if you are re-raised on the river - at least get a few more bucks into the side pot
