After may i finish uni so ive looked at the math on nl and lhe games and i like the limit stuff better.

So, i can put together a reasonable roll for 3/6 or 5/10 of about 5k-6.5k. I wont be buying the food etc outta this roll as yet but if i decide i like the pro life i may very well decide to.
So, where are the best places to play 3/6 5/10 ?

Ive played enough on ap and dise to know i can play good at these sites (when i dont tilt!) while i was ok at crypto but i havent tried stars/party/UB etc.
Anyone who plays this stuff a lot what advice can you offer?

Everyone should be playing at Party Poker, if you're not you're losing money.

It'd be such a grind to be a pro at anything below the 3/6 level, it would take like 40000 hands amonth to make a decent salary at a good winrate. I would say go to 5/10 and stay there until you have the BR for 10/20.

Stars 6max sucks... I have yet to see good games at 3/6 and up running for very long...

Party I can find games 24/7 that are running all the time... the player base at party is much larger then stars...

and as Jeff said if you are playing 3/6 or down don't even try it... unless you have a very low coast in bills and shit per month like me... I only take like $200-$300 out of my roll a month right now so i get away with not having another job while playing 3/6...

I would think you could easily pull it off at 10/20 and up, IMO 5/10 would be pushing the lower bound of trying to pay rent, car payments all that good shit... 3/6 well it's doable but I wouldn't try it... anything below that yea right keep your day job...

Honestly, it's not very fun to play as a "pro" when you have to win money to eat it can be extremely stressful if you're breaking even or loosing...

Get better first.

Stop losing with overpairs and you'll be fine.

What level are you playing now? I think you need a higher bankroll to start.

It depends on your monthly cash outs to what kind of roll you need... someone that lives off say $500 can play 3/6 and probably be ok but someone that cashes say $2500 for bills and shit there is no fucking way they could make it at 3/6...

Do yourself a spread sheet of you monthly coasts and then figure out what bb/100 you would need to JUST break even on paying bills...

This I just threw together of a rough guess of what it would run me, if I didn't live at home like I do (though I am moving out next semester but that's not coming out of my pocket just yet)

When the Fixed Income says Rake Back that's actually my personal affiliate... not a 3rd party RB site, and no I will not hook you up, so please don't PM me asking about it!!!

Can you financially and mentally afford to have a losing month?
Are you tough enough to handle the bad luck when you are playing to pay the bills?

ok this is all good stuff.
Midas, stop capping taggs with JJ and sucking kthxgg.

Im not going pro in the sense ill be living off my br and taking cash out each month. Not yet at least, and possibly not ever. I just wanted opinions on how likely it would be to do as such. So ive got that answer. Yes arkana i can take a bad month etc
I think i see that 6k might be a little short for 5/10 6max which is fine ill play at 3/6 to start but by no means did i want to just live off grinding.
I was wondering what limits i would need to be playing if i wanted to consider this route realistically. 10/20 min seems to be clear.
Are there ever any good games at better limits or is 5/10 10/20 going to be the best?

LOL I use a 500bb BR rule but plan to shift it to 1000bb eventually...

Yea, like I said it depends on what kind of expenses you got each month to whether it can be done below 10/20...

ha-ha, well you can always find at least 1 fish at any level... I see 60/30s at the 100/200 6 max game all the time so does that answer your question?

I play mostly 2/4 with some 3/6 and 5/10
I play ~40k hands a month at about 20-30 hrs/ week
my rakeback is about 2k/mo
The rest is extra topping.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Miffed:

I did some maths for myself a few days ago.. you might want to hear..

I can play 7/8 tables of $3/6 full ring (500 hands per hour or so) at 1bb/100 and it comes out to $25/hour. If we played four hours a day, we'd expect $500/week (5 day week).

Throw in rakeback on top.

Not too shabby.

and demi somethins up with your math..

If youre doing 40,000 hands a month youre doing 10,000 hands a week -- in 25 hours. Thats 400 hands per hour.

You'd have to be atleast 5 tabling 6max??
