This isn't an actual hand, but rather a thought I had.

Say you are on the button and the game is 6-handed. Two limpers, CO raises. You hold a medium suited connector.

Is a cold call profitable here?

After cold calling, the blinds have great odds to call with a very wide range, even with a 1/3 structure, and the limpers will certainly call (and you have position). So it seems like a cold call would be profitable in this case (i.e. your call will likely lead to a family pot where suited connectors have lots of equity).

Does your answer change if you hold a small suited connector? A medium suited ace? A small suited ace?

This is sort of a general discussion question that I'm hoping to learn something from, so what are you thoughts?

IF i do this, and i mean IF, i'm going in with mid-ranged suited connectors since there are the 2 draws i'm gunning for. AXs won't do you much good if you only have the one draw.

I'd call here with T9s, JTs and QJs. For JTs and QJs, I'd be even more agressive. If a blind then three bet and there were four other people in the pot, I'd cap it when it got back around to me. These hands are amazing in huge pots. (If there were already four other people in the pot and the original raiser was in early position so I wouldn't knock anyone out, I'd 3-bet).

Anything lower than this is just too low to play against a raiser and just two callers. Part of the value of hand like this is when you flop TPGK and they have draws the huge pot size won't let them get away from. Then, you just bet relentlessly for value.

Honestly, I'd rather have QJs or JTs against four people in a capped pot than KK or even AA. It's easier to get away from when you whiff, and when you win, you win huge.

I should add that I play all suited cards 10+ this way, trying to cap the betting while keeping the pot 5-handed in late position. Those hands just rock against lots of people when you've got position, and can tell where you stand with your TPGK if you hit. Here is one of my favourites from lately:

lol Silver i like the effort finding an example however we are refering to a 6max table... situations are completly diffrent...

in a 6max game connecters even the suited ones drop in value a lot... i could only venture a call here with no less then T9s... of course TJs is playible, and QJs well you could 3 bet but you have a marginal hand and i would rather see a flop before getting crazy with it... KQs i'll probably 3 bet, and of course this goes without saying AKs is a 3bet cap hand...

i'd like to see someone make an argument for 67-89...

Cards | SB | BB | 3 | 4 | 5 | D

98 s | -0.08 | -0.07 | 0.02 | 0.10 | -0.01 | 0.04

87 s | -0.04 | -0.21 | 0.04 | 0.10 | 0.05 | -0.14

76 s | -0.16 | -0.14 | -0.03 | -0.19 | -0.15 | 0.02

now i'm not so sure if those EV numbers are right given it is from PokerRoom and i think they pulled them off all levels of play so i think they incloude the fishes being dumbasses with them...

i would like to find a for sure Math result of EV for these suckers...
