Clarkmeister's Theorm:

When it's heads-up to the river and the 4 flush hits, it's almost always correct to bet.

Which of course brings the anti-clarkmeister of raising on a bluff players who know this because they will often fold without at least the 3rd nut flush.

He looked like the sorta aware sort, so I was trying to draw a 3-bet from a worse hand. Often the 2nd nut just calls in these situations.

i think Fnord's referring to the play, not the player.

Explain.

Surely it's entirely dependant on how your opponent plays?

basically, the board is so scary that any made hand, whether top pair, 2 pair, or even a set is not going to raise.

in fact, some of those hands may even fold.

if you are raised, you are definitely beat, and should fold (unless you have a good flush)

having a flush card is not a prerequisite for making this play. the only thing needed is to be out of position when the 4th flush card comes on the river, heads up.
