Let's face it, as others have said, when in the SB at a 5/10 (2/5 blind structure), calling a raise from the SB is a cold-call. After all, it's $8 versus bye-bye to your $2.

My question is, knowthing that UTG (LAG) caps EVERY time I 3 bet him, did I play this correctly pre-flop.

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with 8, 8.
UTG raises, MP calls, 1 fold, Hero calls, BB calls.

Flop: (8 SB) 8, 7, K [color:#0000FF](4 players)[/color]
Hero bets, BB calls, UTG raises, MP folds, Hero 3-bets, BB folds, UTG calls.

Turn: (7.50 BB) 6 (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero calls.

River: (11.50 BB) 3 (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 15.50 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has 8d 8s (three of a kind, eights).
UTG has 7h 7c (three of a kind, sevens).
Outcome: Hero wins 15.50 BB.

i'd do this even at a 1/3 blind structure...yummy implied odds.

i think you need a 3-bet on the turn or river, even knowing it's getting capped back. only one preflop raising hand beats you, and that is KK. everything else you beat.

You are right, Hyper, but this guy loved J10s , 109s. After the turn I was worried about 109s, which he was capable of raising from EP.
He was 62%/28%, so his raise pre-flop raise was not all that informative.

I think you are right though, I should not have worried about KK or 109s, and jammed him back.

I'd like to be a TAG but I'm a bit passive on later streets, sometimes putting too much credit on the worse-case scenerio. I'm a TAP, but working on it.

In reviewing hand histories I am leaving $$ on the table by not being as aggressive as I should be on the turn an river, especially the river.

Thanks Hyper, I will look to 3bet that in the future. If I pay him off, that's life.

Pre-flop is pretty standard for me.

3-bet the turn, you're ahead way too often to call and gaybet the river. If he's got the straight or KK for some freakish reason, then I'd rather get the money in while I have outs.
