I'm in late position at a party .5/1 table with the blinds, a limper, a raiser, and two cold-callers. I have KJs and call two cold. The small blind calls, the BB 3-bets. Limper calls, raiser calls, and the two cold caller's call. (19 small bets). I cap thinking this is for value and hope to see two to a flush on the flop.
Sound strategy or wishful thinking?

I would fold pre-flop and no, the cap isn't for value.

I know I should have probably not even entered the pot on this one, but I didn't think there was any chance the BB was going to raise. I am still working on when I can cold-call and with what hands I can cold-call with when there are multiple cold-callers ahead of me. My thinking on this was, I have position on this hand and if the flop is unfavorable, it's going to be a lot easier to get away from it than if I had AQ, AK, QQ, etc. I remember reading in SSH (I tried to find the example, but was unable to find it) that I should cap for value in certain situations. It was something specific about playing in games with a cap, and he mentioned the cap and that played a role in part of the decision making process. He didn't really go into the reasoning behind why sometimes it's okay to raise and cap, but it would not be a good idea if there were no cap. Can anyone give me a little more insight on this? Would capping for value have been acceptable if I had AJ instead of KJ?

Preflop, I only cap with level 1 hands.
On the flop, I might cap if someone gave the the opp and there were a bunch of people still in that I could trap for one more bet each, and I had trips on an uncoordinated board or a nut draw.

I don't think so...think about what kinds of cards might be in there calling your cap (big pairs, AK, AQ)? You're most likely behind at least one player who stays in.

I don't think you can cap with either hand. Acutally I fold both of them preflop. I hate cold calling so its either a fold or 3bet (unless its heads up w/ a read). I like folding better.

fold pre flop, no reason to call two cold here. If 4 other did it maybe, but not here.
