Hand 1: Yeah I raise preflop to try and get SB and BB out making you 50/50 with UTG.

Hand 2: Erm. Wtf. I call the river just to see what he's up to. Youre like 99% toast though. River raises suck. ;p

Hand 2 I'm calling just to see what's the good word. The range there is interesting

Hand 2: On second thought I think we can let this river go. You don't beat anything he raises. You dont beat, A8, A9, AJ, AQ, AK -- much less AA. Watcha put him on? Youre toast. He knows you dont have an 8, and any thinking player raises here with any decent ace. What, he gonna put you on, at the river? deuces?

I dont mind the river donk as youre ahead of a lot of 3bet range (PPs, big Ks) but ya gotta fold to the raise.

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
In hand one I would bet/fold the turn. He very well could be calling with like a guthot or backdoor draw and you don't to let him get a free card. Also, I would only check behind the turn if I am 100% sure of what I'm going to do with my river decision, which you should know before you act on the turn.
