Someone was asking about poker bots earlier, and got the typical "its cheating" blah blah blah. It got me thinking, at what point is a poker calculater a bot? Is it just when it folds hands for you or is it more than that? At what point do people think using programs is immoral?

My opinion: It is a bot if it makes the decisions

If you have software making decisions for you. You are a bot. End of story. Every situation is different of course. However, if you aren't making decisions, all of them. You are a bot.

all bots and computers take decisions based on probabilities, and poker everybody know isn´t just that! is too much more! almost everytime the low odds beats the high odds... so i woul´dn´t trust my money on a bot!

Hi jjkex
When poker players started playing on line i think the question of morality went down the drain, you can’t see your fellow player and vice versa, so anyone can do whatever he likes, don't you think?

This is a very simplistic and incorrect thinking, I am sure any person who will program a bot will use some sort of random functions to emulate human behavior

Use any program while playing on the tables against me... I could care less.
Typically bots are used in lowest limit Turbo Sng's and guarantee only a very marginal +ROI. From what I've read about them, they aren't worth it and aren't worth worrying about.
As far as when does other software programs border on being considered a bot?... who knows... would be debatable I suppose.
If there's folks using programs that have huge databases in them... oh well.... doesn't bother me. If there's using something like Tournament Indicator (or whatever the names of some of the programs that calculate eq etc.) and indicates whether or not they should fold, call or raise.... whatever... go for it. Again.. it doesn't bother me in the least.

pretty sure it's not a bot when it starts bitchin' on the table about someone bein' a donk after they've gotten their money in bad and sucked out huge. Yah... I don't think that's a bot.
OR... when they pull a HUGE suckout from a retarded play and then say 'See ya Son'... yup.. pretty sure that's not a bot either (ie. One eyed Lefty is not a bot, lol).

I am affraid that the best Kiev players on Poker Stars on cash tables (5 Card draw) are the bots. Don't you think so?
