Yeah, bet the flop. There's a good chance you have the best hand. Also by checking you announce that probably don't have an A, while betting continues to rep the A that your preflop raise indicated.

No matter how many times I see a hand like that, I laugh my ass off. The only thing better is when they raise and cap with hands like that. I still don't understand even the worst player not understanding that you can't bluff-cap the river in a big pot.

This hand doesn't really belong here because it's from a no-limit tournament but I'll put it in here anyway because it goes along with the subject of the thread. If you've been lagging it up a lot, bad players will start to call you with some of the worst hands you can imagine. To make this actually applicable to limit hold'em, I think these hands show the importance of betting the river against a bad player, even if you're not 100% sure you have the best hand, because bad players call too much and even if you're crushing them, they'll probably call you anyway.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t800 (3 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Button (t4290)
Hero (t5960)
BB (t3250)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J, T.
1 fold, Hero raises to t5910, BB calls t2400 (All-In).

Flop: (t8410) K, 5, Q (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: (t8410) T (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t8410) 8 (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t8410

Hero shows J T
BB shows 4 2

As far as why I checked the flop in the first hand. I'm new to limit hold'em so if I'm not understanding some important differences between limit and no-limit it would be nice if someone could explain it to me. Anyways when I'm playing no-limit I hate continuation betting into a scary flop that may well have hit my opponents, when I'm out of position, and there are a lot of people seeing the flop. I basically never continuation bet when all of the above factors are applicable, I'll only get called by a better hand so it seems like representing the ace is a waste of money. I also occasionally check flops that gave me a monster so me checking doesn't necessarily announce that the flop is a bad one for me.

If there's a bet and a raise behind me I'll obviously dump my hand, if the action isn't quite that wild then I'll use my best judgment. I don't have a formula for how I play post-flop every situation is different.
