When you have a better than average hand and players in the blinds who will lay down to a raise. In a loose game for me it is usually QT and higher,
In a tight game I'll do it with any suited connector or better.

Consider the range of hands that your opponent may have, and then determine how your hand stands up. Remember, if you are the big blind, the button raises and small blind folds, you are getting 3.5 to 1 to call. Against an average player I will call with 78s and higher and reraise with any hand I would open from middle position or later. (AJo, KJs, etc.)
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.
