My first hand at the table and I got it wrong IMO.

My thoughts and comments:

Preflop: This looks a good blind defense with this hand. This one I like it.

Flop: I should have raised! Hoping he folds or check the turn so I can either take the free card if missed or bet again the turn and hope he will fold and I get a free showdown (if I miss the river card) ?

What do you think?

Or do you fold the flop?

Thanks

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8d, Jd. UTG posts a blind of $10.
UTG (poster) checks, 3 folds, SB raises, Hero calls, UTG folds.

Flop: (5 SB) 9c, 4h, 7c (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (3.50 BB) 5h (2 players)
SB bets, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 4.50 BB

Results below:
No showdown. SB wins 4.50 BB.

Fold it at the flop. Heads up a gutshot is not going to be profitable. Small pot with hardly any players, that means you want to play big cards. j8 doesn't really apply there.
