I have no read. I'm not sure if this fold was ingenius or idiotic. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards idiotic without a read.

Yeah, this is a must showdown. You are likely to be up against a worse 2 pair than yours. Sure you might be up against a set, but you are definately taking this down often enough to call. Given the preflop action, I think you can probably rule out AK/KK/AA/probably 99 depending on the player. This leaves 55 as about the only hand that has you beat and A5/K9/K5/flush draw/maybe even 59 as hands you have beat.

hi dsaxton
me thinks you know already where it went goofy.
HU, and thinking that you both have made hands of some sort, If there is not enough "value" to call a cap on the turn, then there is not enough 'value " to 3 bet.
I'd be calling and paying off 55 and taking $ off A5.
PS. This is one hand where Aggression stats would be really helpful. If he's less than 2 aggression on the turn it's more likely a 55. If he's 1.5 or less I have an even stronger feeling it's 55.
They key here is if he's low turn aggression you just call his raise (respecting 55) ,then you are not in the capped dilema.
If he's super agro on the turn, you've the got an interesting 3 bet decision.

I can't remember last time I took a 3-bet/fold line on a turn where I have outs should I be behind.

I think I was still drunk from St. Patrick's day when I played this hand.
For some reason I was thinking that since he should be worried about my having at least A-K when I 3-bet his check-raise, that he will therefore almost never cap with a hand I can beat. The only problem with this thinking is that it assumes he's an intelligent player, and that often isn't the case at these tables.
