I could use some opinions on how to play a big pair with one of my pair out.
Thanks...
For example:
7 Card Stud High ($0.25/$0.50), Ante $0.05, Bring-In $0.10 (converter)
3rd Street - (1.60 SB)
Seat 1: xx xx 2 ___brings-in
Hero: K K 9 ???
Seat 3: xx xx 7 ___
Seat 4: xx xx 5 ___
Seat 5: xx xx K ___
Seat 6: xx xx Q ___
Seat 7: xx xx 8 ___
Seat 8: xx xx 3 ___

Just complete and play it for the best hand. Your hand is not as strong as it would be if it were completely live, but it's still worth playing aggressively.
Times when I may consider just limping with a big pair would be if I have a big split pair in early position with one of my pair cards dead, but in this case I'm calling mostly for deception. The reason I'm more willing to limp in this case is twofold: if I raise with a dead upcard, I'm much more likely to have the hand I'm representing since I'd be unlikely to complete with a dead speculative hand into a field of players, so raising is more likely to expose my hand to thinking players; and also since I give up less by not completing because my hand has less value when it isn't live.
In this particular situation, assuming you were playing against competent opponents, your hand is already well-concealed, so you don't have to worry about deception.
I realize that these are factors that don't really come into play at this level, but they're still things to consider if you want to understand the game beyond the basics.
