when you are a reg and surely being datamined, would you show any bluffs or the goods. both or neither? i never show, but am open to opinion.

does it make sense that if you show the goods more often that players who have the sense to datamine will avoid you more often. theroretically, this leaves you up against players with less sense. -dont take this literally, i mean generally speaking, 100k dataminers > 100k nondataminers.

Dataminers have access to hand histories, so it doesn't matter if you show a hand that loses a showdown, they can get that anyway.

So the only time this becomes an issue is when everyone has folded. And if you seriously believe that the table you are playing at is being datamined, you probably want to never give out any information that the software doesn't force you to give out.

However, that said, (1) I don't think datamining is nearly as universal as you might think, especially in low stakes, and (2) the reality is that any dataminer is probably going to have enough information about you over time to create a relatively accurate picture of your game, whether or not you show cards after an opponent's fold.

Bottom line, I wouldn't worry about it so much.

thanks for the input. as stated i dont ever show, just wanted to hear opinions on the matter. i guess i should have been more specific about showing the goods. i did mean when all have folded to the hero and hero shows his monster. just curious on thoughts about this and not entirely worried about it.

i dont think it matters. you may show a hand once in 10k hands. or even if its once every 5k, what kind of edge does that really get you? the answer: none.

i, however, show players when i do something way off the ordinary for me. and, when i have been playing the same way for a long time at the same table......and am not leaving soon. i will do it on occasion just to show someone, that i respect, that i am capable of playing differently.

thats all its for, imo, and i am probably still overvaluing the benefit of showing cards.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

people only use mined hands to get decent stats for post-flop play. Very few people go through showdown hands, it takes a long time.
Forget about showing hands, ever.

I might show hands, but it would mean having to unclick the default setting, and make the decision every damn hand. Also, I would have to sit up reach all the way over to the keyboard.

There are points in the late stages of tourneys or SNGs where showing hands can be worthwhile for table image and/or to put someone one tilt. But those are rare and not really relevant to ring game datamining.
