I signed up a new account to take advantage of a bonus at Party.

After a while, it popped up a "try out our beginner's tables for 45 days."

Beginner's tables? I'M THERE! Unfortunately, they don't have any NL games there. On the flip side, I was inspired by some recent articles and downswings (and maybe the acceptance of some of my faults which aren't always great in a NL game) to MAYBE switch over to limit.

I'm more of a math guy than a read guy.

Also, I had never played much limit, and didn't realize the pots got so large, even in games as low as 2/4. I took down an $80 pot yesterday. Amazing.

So anyhow, I was wondering if any of you guys had played these beginner tables...so far in two sessions I'm running pretty good, and basically crushing the game. Is the "normal" 2/4 much different?

I wonder what my winrate would be if I could remember all that business I read in SSH...

Also, I have some limit-oriented Hand history questions that I need to ask (about folding hands that are looking very beaten...), but I'll post those some other time.

Anyway, for now at least during my win streak, I'm glad to be here with "the other half."

If you are more of a math guy than a read guy, limit is for you.

math is a significant part of limit. In NL, you can't always call bets based on pot odds, because your effective odds can screw you later on in the hand. If a guy raises you're flush draw all-in on the turn, you just pissed away money and are forced to fold, or call and gamble.

I still need to sharpen up my math in limit, particularly backdoor draw odds and other nuances, but for the most part I'm doing a good job

I've been playing .5/1 limit at Party and am really pissed that i don't have the BR to move higher at the beginner tables because they're really fishtanks...

Play 10/20.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

I used the 2/4 beginner tables to clear a deposit and a reload bonus on Party and I was in love with them the whole time. Most of the beginner tables I played at were significantly worse than the normal tables sometimes with 8-9 fish on the same table and hardly any players that I would consider good.

You could definitely sustain a huge winrate in those games.

Yeah, I've played a little at the "normal" tables and it's far, far different.

Unfortunately, I'm getting my nose rubbed in the ass-end of variance at this point and I'm only winning about 1BB/100, and dropping.

I read a thread about how 1/2 was the "epicenter of all that is bad in poker." I think these guys rival that, and I'm having a hard time overcoming the suckouts at this point. All three of my big pairs are losers, KK has lost 2/9. Sets are getting over-set on the river, stuff like that.

It's costing me a lot of BBs, yameen?

But today. Today, I'm gonna stick it to them.
