Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: hlacheen is MP with K, A.
UTG calls, hlacheen raises, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls, UTG calls.

Flop: (8.50 SB) 8, K, 9 (4 players)
BB checks, UTG bets, hlacheen raises, Button calls, BB calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (8.25 BB) 9 (4 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, hlacheen bets, Button calls, BB calls, UTG calls.

River: (12.25 BB) T (4 players)
BB checks, UTG bets, hlacheen calls, Button calls, BB calls.

Final Pot: 16.25 BB

Results in white below:
BB has 4d Kc (two pair, kings and nines).
UTG has 6d 7h (straight, ten high).
hlacheen has Kh Ad (two pair, kings and nines).
Button has Qs Th (two pair, tens and nines).
Outcome: UTG wins 16.25 BB.

Should I have raised on river? Also, I'm new to 6-max, is it normally very volatile? My first 700 hands went down 30BB, up 30BB, down 40BB.

You don't slow down because of the scare card. 3 to a flush or straight is not a scare card in 6max. You made the right play for the wrong reason ... go for overcallers. If you raise, you usually make no more money and if way behind get 3-bet.

Variance is greater at 6max because you have to play more hands and showdown more marginal hands than full ring.

My first day of 6-max. Hyper's post said 40BB swings aren't uncommon though, so I don't feel so bad.

I think a big leak so far is my aggression in early position. I think I need to learn to be more passive from UTG, and save the aggression for late position.
For example, raising AKo from UTG, and then betting on a ragged undercard flop seems to accomplish nothing. Everyone calls it down, whether they have anything or not, although this may just be an aspect of the .50/1 limit.

Let me think this though a bit here…

UTG does donk out... HOWEVER, UTG's line is completely fucking weird... limps PF/calls, donks the flop/calls, check calls the turn, donks the river? WTH!?!? So I would have to go into my think tank here and based on reads and narrow down his range...

Figure that with UTG donking the river I can narrow his hand to a few things... (This is based on actions PF, Flop, and Turn) made straight (most likely unfortunately at 0.5/1), 2 pair, or trips played like a dumb ass (could be a possible boat in this same area)... I just can't think this guy donks this big a pot on complete air... you best hope is he had KQ, Kx something like that... if you call and button raises, well I really have to put on of them on a straight... they look too loose passive just in this hand to not give them credit... (Obviously I could be way off because I am basing that read on one hand and one situation)…

So I think a call for 1 bet is fine but I wouldn't put 2 or 3 in to see SD IMO...

LOL I take 40 bet swings easy, after playing 6max a long time 40bb becomes like nothing…

I think my biggest swing in one day was 200bb...

I mean that is unheard of and you should be extremely worried if that happens, obviously I’m not referring to a +200bb swing either...

But Jeff is right 100bb happen and they happen a lot more then you might like them to...

My biggest + up swing in a day was ohh -55bb to +100bb so +155bb...

6 max can have some nasty ass HUGE swings...

which is why i feel 300bb is not enough for 6max play at least not if you 3-4 table it...

i peronaly go with 500bb at the low levels...
