So, I've cut my bankroll in half this month (actually not hard to do with an 8k bankroll at 10/20 -- just 200 bets..) but its time to drop down and figure out whats going wrong.

So as a result, I'm going to be playing one table of 5/10 6max for a while, until I can, well, beat it again.

I'm going to be recording my play through use of a video capture program, and I was wondering if there would be any interest here to watching them. I'd probably do about 45mins-hour per video, and have the hand history to go along with it. I'd be talking the entire time, probably too much, but I want it to be very stream of conscious -- everything I'm thinking I want to say.

To piggyback on that, the filesize is going to be rather large >100meg per file. Anyone know where I can host files that large? I'm thinking my best bet is to distribute through bittorrent.

Anyway, thoughts?

I don't know if I have enough skill to do too much critiquing, but I think there is more than a couple of us who would like to see videos, especially ones without an english accent (sorry dwarfman)...although 45 minute chunks might be a little much at a time.

Well, figure my vpip is about 23%, and I get 60 hands per hour per table. since im only one tabling ill be playing approx 13 hands per hour. In a half hour you'll see me play 6 whole hands on average.

Maybe I should just split them up into 30 minute recordings then, but record an hour+ at a time?

Thanks dwarfy, probably take you up on that

I'd be interested in watching them. Would be a good chance for me to improve by figuring out somewhat how other people at a similar skill level think during a session. And maybe I'd see some sort of consistent error you are making to help your game too.

euphoricism - that sounds interesting, if there's interest (and it sounds like there already is), we may be able to host it also on a hosting plan that Eric already has and link to it from FTR. Let us know if you need our help with anything.

Actually, on the subject of vids, I would love if some of the more senior LAGG's would post some videos as well...Fnord or Rippy come to mind...just since I think their styles would be vastly different than mine...although anyone who wants to post one, do it. I really like seeing other players make read-based plays on opponents and what tips them off.

Alright, I'll probably start recording this weekend, one and two tables at a time. The new resizable windows make it easier.

Note: I'm running really, really, really bad right now. And theres a chance I'm really, really, really screwing something up. So yes nehmer, there very well might be something I'm missing.

I know I just raised the river on a blind steal with T high :/ Gave him way too much credit to be able to lay down 3rd pair

Ok I actually recorded four tonight, each a half an hour. No audio. I dragged notepad onto the screen and typed when I felt I needed to.

I'd like to use audio, but it'll add about 100meg to the filesize, so practicality may preclude it.

So, who wants to set up hosting for em? 253 meg total, .avi files (converting them to mpeg did nothing for the file size)

A) You dont have all of them
B) I used notepad to type messages I felt were important.
C) It was more of a trial run than anything.

Audio is the goal, in a very stream-of-conscious sort of way. In fact, I'd wager I'll probably be annoying and talking way too fucking much. You might even hear me singing. I do that.

I'll write a note on my monitor to avoid singing "I feel pretty" at loud volumes. "Plush" by STP is fair game, though. Thats just goot.

Well, wow. I've only played slightly over 8k hands at 10/20. I'm down 50 bets. Its not anywhere near as earth shattering as I thought. I was doing a lot of hit-n-running at the beginning of the month. Up $600 in 200 hands? Done for the day. So Yes, I was destroying the game earlier, but I hit my well-deserved downswing.

I'm only down 50 bets at 10/20. (and thats after cashing out about $800.) I'll probably return to it shortly, but I'd like to do some confidence building first.

I'm 90% confident I can beat the game.

Remember kids: Profit is a function of how many hands you play.

Profit can be negative. It's probably more accurate to say expected profit is a function of number of hands played and the relative skill level of your opponents.

euphoricism,

Can you please give us a short sample video file? Something less than 5 minutes showing 1 or 2 hands would work. We could host this sample on ftr and see how people like it and how much bandwidth it uses before deciding what to do with the full videos.

Yeah the audio appears to be the biggest hurdle. It adds about 300% to the regular non-audio filesize. How do all the porn sites do their videos and get them to manageable sizes? Someones gotta know.

compress it way down. it's just voice. you don't need 128kbps. heck...mp3 at 8kbps is probably good enough to make out what you're saying.

I compress movies with audio all the time at my work. Send me the sample clips WITH audio and I'll see how much I can compress it. I'm pretty certain I can get the filesize down substantially.

FYI, I use Media Cleaner. I use it on a Mac. Not sure if there's a version for Windows.

As for how you'll be sending it to us, did Eric talk to you about it yet? Perhaps he could set up an FTP directory? I don't know. Ask Eric.

I talked to him, he had me send him a 1 minute video but couldn't get the video to work - audio worked fine. Im sure its a codec thing.

The 30 minutes files are about 180 meg, half an hour long. The five minute one is about 20 meg. Lemmeknowwatchathink

Eric will get back to you on Monday. We think maybe you should send us your original movie with audio and have me try compressing it.

Curious... how did you capture the video? What app did you use?

Just to clarify for newbies, are you are meaning "what percentage" of hands you play (i.e 23%) or "'how many" (i'e. 10,000 a week). ...some folks might misread this.

The former. I have a 99% VPIP and make more than you can dream of.

Obviously then, its a function of literally how many hands you can play. A person who plays 50,000 hands will make more than a person who plays 10,000 providing they both run near the same winrate and are of the same skill.

If a guy was rich, it would be neat playing 99/80 for a 100 hands 6 max, just because you'd be sure to make at least one person at the table go on tilting downswing while the others took your money........I'm sick,,,,,,,,lol

You should try it sometime. Go down to 1/2 or 2/4 6 max and just play like an idiot. Its a good place to try out new lines and run over your opponents. Actually, as soon as you play like an idiot for 1-2 hands (and they know you are doing it) you will get paid pretty heavily. Shania is awesome...
