Assuming you have no straight draw or anything, what do you do when the flop comes K x x to your AQ/AJ or A x x to your KQ? Do you just check/fold? It seems that what I'm in the habit of doing and I'm not sure if this is correct.

When you are playing AQ or AJ, I am going to assume you probably raised preflop and should fire off a bet on the flop for sure. After that it depends on how many other people are in the hand and how they are playing it on what you should do.

Usually fold, especially in a loose passive game where people will call to the river with a weak hand.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

drawing to 3 overcard outs, or possibly none if you are reverse dominated, you pretty much have to fold if bet into. happens all the time, and it freakin sucks, but you can't get wedded to a hand just cuz it look purty.
