Ive noticed lately that every table I play is very tight lately in $2/4. Usually 2-4 people on each flop, and PT & PV always show me 5-6 other guys at the table that are very tight...
Hmmmm guess ill have to go play on pacific for awhile

I can't speak as to them tightening up as I just started Party 2/4 a couple of weeks ago. THough I have found a lot of tables with 4-5 TAggs hanging around. Finding a fish packed table has been difficult at times but I usually find one or two a night. Just have to go out find them. I do a lot of table switching, observing, playing a couple orbits and getting a sense of who's playing (with a lot of help from Gametime+ and PT). IF I find more than 3 TAggs at a table I generally move unless the remaining players all major fish.

This has happened in the .5/1 today aswell, it's REALLY weird.
I have never seen a pot folded to the blinds in .5/1 at Party before today, EVER.
Very strange.

Agreed. 2/4 seems to have been tighter and tougher over the past couple weeks.
I blame Fnord for trumpeting the easy games here.

I really find that it varies with the time of day.
It seems to me that during EST business hours, the tables tend to be tighter. Whereas, after dinner time EST, they tend to loosen up, as more casual, there-for-the-entertainment type players start showing up.
I tend to play when I get home from work (I'm in the PST zone), so it's around 8pm or later EST. I've been able to find plenty of loose/passives at this time.
Anyone else notice this kind of time-of-day correlation?
(We might all be seeing 'patterns' that just aren't there, but this one seems to make some sense to me).

BTW--I've moved to Pokerroom to clear a bonus, and at 1/2 they are even tighter than 2/4 at Party. Understandably, the players are a bit weaker, but most are playing like whores.

I'm in CST (go figure), and I've noticed the player volume plummets after about midnight EST...I always thought this is when the loose-passive money goes away. So, I would agree that b/t 8-11 EST is probably hightide, so to speak. After this time, I notice a lot more raising/re-raising, and see more hyper-TAgs out to feed.

i should qualify my (brief) answer from before.
i can FIND super loose tables. the problem is, i get on the list and wait and wait and wait to get seated, then by the time i'm seated, all the fish have blown out and the TAG's come in to replace them.
and i'm not even talking about the top 10 action tables. i pick the ones in the middle of the list.
i know i should leave once i realize the conditions aren't good anymore, but after spending 10 minutes waiting to get in, i don't feel like leaving and starting all over again. it's such a freakin waste of time.

good point, chicago, i usually play after 11 p.m. EST on the theory that people on the east coast are playing tired and the west coasters are in pure fish mode. but i should really play earlier to hit the true primetime.

Speaking of time of day .... Anyone know how to set your timezone in PT so that it shows all your data in your local time-zone?
On a related note, it would be cool to do a time-of-day analysis on a large PT database to see if there is a time-of-day correlation. I think that would be impractical, but a interesting thought nonetheless.
Poker tide-tables would rock!

Guys, if you are getting on waiting lists, you wont get any kind of good tables, only by luck.
Go and sit yourself down at a shorthanded table and let it fill up. Fish like smaller tables, for some weird reason.

Nice suggestion, Jeff. Never thought of this...I'll try it. But, warning: you need to watch out for pseudo-maniacal short-handed players. If they are actually good, they can hurt you before you know it.

Yeah, I bet some players with 50-100k hands that play at different times during the day (subtle encouragement for college players to chime in) could provide some interesting insights here

Fish don't use table specific wait lists, they want action now! So consider what that table is going to look like more often than not by the time your name comes up.

I try to pick tables with six to seven players. Fish like these short-handed tables because they don't want to wait to play, but also because they don't have to have as good a hand to win. They find their weak starting hand requirements allow them to take more pots than they would with those same hands at a full table.
