This table wasn't particularly aggressive. Some tendency to draw, but only stronger draws (OESD, high flushes, etc.) Just an average table.

Given that many people in for the preflop raise, I would have thought I'd take someone to the river. Would a call on this flop have been better than the raise, then pressing on the turn when the A comes?

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
why are you raising this flop??? You have 4 players to act behind you and you have the pure nuts. This is a case where the better was to your right and raising forces everyone out of the pot except a Jack.

I normally call here and depending on my position on the turn I might raise. If there is a chance I'll get a 4bet off though I'll raise.

I made the incorrect assumption that mp3 (or at least someone) had a J-I'm figuring I'm gonna reraised a lot. Of course, that turned out to not be true.

And to be totally fair, I only have the 3rd best hand on the flop.

Even if mp3 is gonna reraise, u wanna just call, hoping for some more players to call "cause its only one bet" . That way some extra bets are in the pot. If you directly reraise, u shut out anybody who may have put in one more bet. One or two overcallers and no reraise is better than none at all and a reraise from mp3.
Again, relative position!!!

Call the flop - if no-one has a J then...you see what happens. If there's action on the turn, raise it, otherwise wait and raise the river.

the last boat you flopped, you should lead out and hope someone raises. we said do not c/r that flop because you had an aggro to act behind and two callers in between. that was the best way to build a pot...in THAT hand.

this hand is different. they all checked to the guy to your right, who led. DONT RAISE NOW!! you force the field to call two cold on a paired board. besides, FR players are a bit nittier than 6max players, and are more apt to fold. smooth call. only raise this flop if the lead out came from several players before you and the rest called.

most importantly, you are so far ahead here, you need others to catch up. there are no realistic draws out. you need a drawing card to hit the board on the turn to really get a pot going. just call the flop and hope a 2nd suit hits the turn...then, get a bit jiggy with it.

i know there are a ton of players in this hand, and its "call station stakes," but all a raise...from THIS position...will do is scare them all off.

you need someone to announce that they, too, have a strong hand before you go crazy.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!
