Probably results oriented, but on 5th street theres no more aces and only one 5 and I'm facing a bet/ and c/raise in front of me. Then at the end I see I would have been good for high. Just questioning if I missed something or it just happened to be a case where the fold was good in theory but not per the results?

Probably fold on third. There's a lot of action which points to someone with AAx or something like 324, and a lot of the cards you need to make a late wheel are gone.

Bet 4th, bet 5th. With a concealed Aces up, I'm stationing down almost all the time barring crazy action/scary boards.

yeah wow I probably would never do it in game but folding 3rd seems good. Def fold if later we'll fold aces up!

I guess the good news is you can see how thin you should be betting based on how much action Seat 5 gave with JJ, even with one dead and against lows.

Given how much action there was on 3rd I think the other aces being out by 5th is good news since now we know we have the nut two pair.

No surprise but I'm going to guess I'm nittier than you, doc. In general stud 8 is probably my worst HORSE game but I've been studying it lately and have decided to just fold marginal hands on 3rd, including most small/medium pairs. Although having the A definitely helps.

I guess the counter-argument here is that with so many low cards out, it'll be hard for anyone to make a scoop hand.

great example of how I need to adjust some thinking, thanks. Fwiw my concern was with the action going on that I was against trips in someone's hand, but I guess I can learn from hands like this how eager some people are to bet/raise hands.

Being rolled up is so incredibly rare you almost don't even have to worry about it. If it were stud hi and the normally passive bring-in player check-raises into 5, you should take it into consideration but there are so many shared cards here it'd be really rare. Plus microstakes stud 8 players are aggro on 3rd with a lot of hands worse than trips.

3rd: you call to the completion is marginal, definitly fold to the raise/reraise on 3rd, mainly because of the 5 wheel card exposed and the reraise by seat 1, usually either aces in the hold or 2 suited low cards
4th: jam it, raise and reraise, thin the field, now the low blockers are working for you, the entire hand plays differently if you jam 4th
5th: bet it
6th-7th: you probably have the best high hand, seat 1 and 2 are all in, bet it
