i apologize for that. it has been a hard day for anyone (ME) who had money in/was expecting rakeback from Pokershare.com. I'm sure you are aware of the fiasco that has become. Anyway, that is my excuse..
Continuing:
I am the cut-off with 2h 2s. UTG folds. UTG+1 calls. UTG+2 folds. UTG+3 calls. UTG+4 calls. UTG+5 calls. CO (ME) calls. Button folds. SB folds. BB checks. So.. 6 players see the flop and I am last to act.
Flop is 2c 4s 6c. $3.25 in pot.
First player checks.
Second player bets.
Third player folds.
Fourth player calls.
Fifth player calls.
Now the pot is at $4.75 and the action is up to me. I decided to call here while planning to raise the turn. Did I make a mistake by doing this?

Yes, you losing money and info. If second player bets out on turn and the both callers folds you lost two sb and still don't know if the got a str8 och flush/draw...

With multiple people in the hand, you might want to call and raise the turn to exchange your SB for a BB possibly. I don't do this because I'm not sure it will work.

Slow playing in big pots = bad. Particularly against a large amount of players. Waiting untill the turn does little to protect your hand. So I would say in the longrun you are missing bets.

Short story: yesterday afternoon they closed out all of their North American accounts.
Long story: read the post on twoplustwo written by Dan Druff. Basically, UB got jealous because pokershare was offering a better incentive plan. UB was losing a lot of business to pokershare because of this, so they put pressure on the skin company to push out pokershare. it worked.

Info doesn't matter. You won't know if they are on a draw if they call either. You do however want to maximize your profit on this hand. The fact that the bet came from early position and you have 2 callers trapped between you is good. The question is whether waiting for the turn will increase our profit. If a blank falls on the turn, and the same action occurs (bet, call, call) then waiting for the turn would be more profitable.

Note that every single card in the deck puts a straight, flush or overcard on the board, or pairs a flop card. therefore the "blanks" I talked about earlier do not exist. When there are a number of cards that may cause your opponents to slow down on later streets, you should try to get as much value as you can quickly.
also consider that many player would raise here with a flush draw and overcards, so a flop raise does little to define our hand.

We are not trying to "protect our hand" we are trying to get the most value from it. Often this includes waiting until a later street to define our hand strength.
As it stands we have a strong hand, but a vulnerable one. Slowplaying is really only correct when it is unlikely that a card will come that can outdraw you, but a card may come that makes your opponent a strong, but still second-best hand.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Yes, but betting doesn't protect our hand and if we're beat... oh well
