raising 99 in a full table is overly aggressive for my tastes.

but given the huge pot size i think you needed to call it down like you did.

I will usually only raise 99 from late position on a full table.

The rest of the hand was played fine. Looks like the guy backed into two pair on the turn?

I normally dont raise with 99 either. This table, however, is extremely loose passive so I was hoping to raise my winning chances or possibly be making a value bet (I figured I had at least second best if not best hand).

I open-raise 77 from any position in any somewhat tight game. In a really loose game 22-88 become limps.
