hand 1: players that think that what makes a good player is the ability to make big laydowns are terribly wrong, especially in small stakes holdem

Hand 1: I'd say good fold. The 3-bet takes away your pot odds and the board being paired means that even if you hit, there will be a small possibility of a boat.

Hand 2: I don't see anything wrong with this fold either. Your J kicker is not looking very good at all when a 9 and T are both on the board. Then the Q of hearts gives a possible straight or flush and I'd say you are beat the vast majority of the time in this situation. That said, I'd still call it down.

given the information he had at the time, these were good folds. but now that we know what his opponents actually had....
