this is just a general, but true, question.

i am a proven winning player over the past year. i beat the NL 25's and 50's at a 4 BB/100 clip, each over 38k hands.

i switched to limit to "learn" the game about 2 months ago. i started out fine, over 5500 hands beating the 1/2 and .5/1 games at 4 and 3.22 BB/100 respectively. i know this is a small sample size.

however, lately, i have been in a bit of a slump. over the past 1500 hands or so, i am in a downswing like none i have EVER experienced. i am down around 100 BB's to 600 BB's over this stretch. probably closer to 200 BB's if you take a weighted average of the limits i play (.25/.5, .5/1, 1/2). it seems i cant buy a favorable situation after the flop. i figure this for "variance, " but it would be awfully niave of me to think there wasnt some horrible poker play in there, too.

when i look at my numbers, they run 18% vpip, 8.7 pfr, and AF of 1.7. to me, those look fine, and signal no immediate red flags, but i cant help but think these numbers are just hiding a more serious problem.

where do i look to find leaks in limit?
is a 200+ BB downswing "normal" ?

thanks for any help.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

elipsesjeff is an unknown quantity at this point
A 200 BB downswing in 1500 hands at Full ring Limit Hold'em is NOT normal. Granted, I imagine some of it is variance but it has more to do with your postflop play than your preflop play. Table/Seat selection is pretty important and if you find yourself going to showdown with a lot of 2nd best hands while never getting paid off, thats a leak.

Frankly, you have a small sample size, but my advice would be to post some questionable hands and see if you played them wrong. Chances are, you're not going to be able to beat any FR game for more than 2 BB/100 IMO at the limits you are at (without table or seat selection), because if you could, you should move up; so I would continue to put more hands in and see if this things turns around.

SSH hand quizz is a great way to check your postflop plays.
