Just wondering what changes some of you guys make for playing on weekends. It's always been real strange to me, the table seems to be playing tighter, but I get a higher number of bad beats. Most of the beats come from tightish players hitting 2-5 outers with hands that tight players typically dont even call preflop. It just seems like poker is entirely different Friday thru Sunday

On a more serious note, adjust to the game. Value bet ruthlessly, bluff less if the game calls for it. You can pass on the 64 s00ted button steal if you know the other guy will by virture of his otherwise donktastic play actually defend well against it. If the table gets silly loose play speculative stuff and start limping 55-22 JTs, etc UTG. That kind of thing...

I agree with this statement. All I really have to add is that it can be variance hell. On the weekend I'm almost gauranteed a 50 BB swing one way or the other each day. But these can be your most profitable times. Just play well and don't let the bad beats get to you.

I actually find my most profitable sessions at PP 2-4 are during the weekend days. Very passive play which you can run over by being aggessive PF. However, at night EST, the maniacal players and drunks come out and you see plays that make you go , which can be good but I agree it is variance hell.

yup just earlier after 300 hands I was down 40bb, half of my profits from yesterday. It's really annoying when you have a goal to progress in limits, but i've been running up-down up down so much it's getting on my nerves.

You guys talk of varience and big swings, up or down. I have only had downswings on weekends, in ring games. Lately I've been playing Stars SnGs on weekends, and party limit thru the week.

I just get tired of the player with PT stats of 20/5/2, calling me down with his mid pair, only to river his kicker, and crack my KK with 69o. I dont see this kind of crap nearly as much through the week.

Night EST is when I have the best results, the players tend to play as the PT stats would suggest they play. I make a killing off the loose/passive players, and push the weak/tight players around. Weekends they seem to play completely opposite from what their stats suggest; and this is not a one session thing. I have tried 10-15 weekend sessions, and lost on all of them.

Im not terribly worried about it at this time, but would like to figure it out.
Is that guy still part of the forum??
