Interesting hand. I would almost be inclined to only call the turn raise as I think he flopped 2 pair. However, I would consider raising the river as you now have 2 pair that would beat his assuming he didn't have a 7. Kind of depends on your read on the guy though and if he's capable of raising the turn with just a draw or if he's the type of guy that will only raise with something like a set.

I think the guy had only been in one round at that point so I didn't have much of any read on him at all.

Two pair's a possibility - but I was also worried about him slowplaying trips or perhaps having hit the gutshot on the turn. I wanted to see where I standed. Maybe he had AQ or KQ, thinking I was bluffing at the pot with AK (or something). If he had called the 3-bet, I would have bet out the river... which I think is the right play. With him capping it I was a bit worried.

i like how you played every street.
don't be afraid of 2 pair. you have 9 outs to counterfeit someone else's 2 pair with an overpair like AA.

I'd just call the 3 bet on the turn instead of capping. You do have just one pair, after all. I like the check/call on the river. There's no way you lay the hand down, but I doubt your hand is good after getting 3 bet on the turn.

villian capped the turn, hero 3bet. dunno, with aces i just don't feel right calling down after a single raise...gotta put that 3rd bet in!

Oops...ok, I would just call the turn raise then. Then call down the river. I just don't like more than 2 bets on the BB rounds with one pair. Especially when it's coming from someone that smoothcalled on the flop. I am assuming the BB smooth called the flop, since the history doesnt mention the BB during the flop round. Maybe I am too quick to give my opps credit for 2 pair or a set.

I really do think the BB has a set of 7's or 9's or slowplayed some other big hand. Leaning more towards the set, as pocket pairs are the hands that are most likely to cold call a raise preflop as the BB did here.

Opp's final hand: either quad 7's or 9's full of 7's

Results in white below:
BB has Ah Qh (two pair, queens and sevens).
Hero has Ad Ac (two pair, aces and sevens).
Outcome: Hero wins 14 BB.

I'd drop in the evening..

You played it exactly the same. Too often people with TPTK wait until the Turn to reraise. Thats how I would have played your hand and thats how I would have played his hand, except he overplayed the turn with the cap.

Good job. You werent too passive, you definately shouldn't fold here and AA is an awesome hand post flop when HU.
