I'm the BB
Button is a really horrible player, could have any 2 cards, but not a very detailed read yet.
SB is a pretty tight but solid player, what do you think of how he played his hand?
What do you put me on?

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (5 handed) converter

Preflop: SB has A 9.
2 folds, Button raises, SB calls, Fnord calls.

Flop: (6 SB) A, T, Q (3 players)
SB checks, Fnord checks, Button bets, SB raises, Fnord calls, Button 3-bets, SB calls, Fnord caps, Button calls, SB calls.

Turn: (9 BB) 3 (3 players)
SB checks, Fnord checks, Button bets, SB calls, Fnord calls.

River: (12 BB) 6 (3 players)
SB bets...

(BTW, Button has 1BB left on the river)

If he was observant with the BB. I would think that I know my hand is good enough to beat the button's most of the time. You're cap on the flop worries me a little. On the river, I would check and then call 1 bet...fold to 2...I think the situation is risky to bet and maybe having to call a 3-bet and then possibly a cap...I think I could let this go if you're both going to be aggressive on the river.
Superb play sir...I always call 20% of my stack off with a gutshot draw. Excuse me while I race for my wallet.

You played it like many play a flush draw and SB seems to think the same and is not worried of the Button.

Does button continue betting with nothing/lousy pair on the river? If he's not I think the bet is fine with fold in mind if it gets back 3 betted.

Would I cap it with *just* a flush draw?

No YOU wouldn't But I've seen to many hands played like that by flush draws latetly, cap flop, check/call turn if no hit. Guess I'm just micro limit blind.
If we talking Fnord, JTd could be an option.

Problem is that I have a hard time finding a Hand you would only call pf. Most hands that pops up in my head fells like raise/fold against a horrible player and SB calling.

No but you might with a open ended straight/flush draw. J9s would be a reasonable possibility here. I dont see KJs because you may have re-raised PF to see how you stood with mister tight (and you simply called the turn). Hmmm tough read but I'd say you most likely have Jd 9d but I'm probably wrong. Other possibility is TT, though unlikely because again the turn.

You have a flush draw with either a Ten, Jack or a King. Or a flush draw with a Ten and a straight draw like JdTd or KdTd. Or a gutshot straight flush draw like KdJd. I think there are too many possible hands to answer a specific one. If I'm right (which I am because I'm the best poker player ever) then I think you played it perfect.

I think SB should have raised preflop to isolate, I hate the way he let another TAG into the pot against a terrible player. After that I really like his play, on the river it's fairly obvious he has you beat and Button is calling his last 1BB with any cards. SB probably has Button beat more than 50% of the time so there's no point risking Button checking behind.

Nice post.

Food for thought, I felt like I pretty much tabled my hand between the flop and turn action. However, a few aware players I pointed to this thread came to very wrong conclusions about my hand. Something to think about playing a hand in a strange way to be deceptive...
