I was in the big blind facing a raise getting about 15-1 + huge implied odds. Should I have played 94o? What sort of odds do I need to play a nothing hand like this or 72o?

Anyway, player2 is about 50% VP$IP with PFR about 26 after 19 hands. He had raised with K4o previously from CO with one other player in the pot. The other players were all pretty loose as well.

Should I have bet the turn or checked? Should I have assumed someone else had a 4 or pocket jacks?

you can't make a straight or a flush with both cards. the only hands that will help is flopping 2 pair or better, which all of them are horrible reversed implied odds considering many other players would be playing much better speculative hands.

Thanks, I had a feeling I shouldn't have played it even with those odds but I wasn't sure. I have plenty of books, so I'll have to skip ahead to the section about playing the blinds because I really have no idea what to play there.

euphoricism, thanks for the link but it doesnt seem to load.

Post-flop looks great.

You're getting amazing implied odds pre-flop and calling probably isn't a big mistake (if it even is a mistake). But 94o just doesn't have anything that excites me and I see no compelling reason to gamble with it out of position. Also, if someone else feelings like gambling it up and 3-bets (semi-aware players will do this with stuff like 88 and JTs) you very well could have to fold facing 2 more bets pre-flop.

Forget about getting x:Y odds pre-flop. That crap has been pretty much shot down among the best thinkers. Think more about post-flop.

Yes, let's all play all of our hands and outplay our opponents post-flop! What a great idea!

the problem with 94o is it has poor high card strength. so even if you happen to miraculously flop 2 pr, you can still lose to a higher 2pr, not to mention trips, str8s, and flushes, especially when the action is so multiway. even with trips on the flop, your kicker was low and you could easily have been up against A4s/K4s... or worse, JJ, TT, or 33.

discount your outs pre-flop and you will see that even getting 15:1 ain't worth another bet. not in LHE.

I think 25:1 is the correct odds to play non-suited non-connecting cards like 94o and J20.

Thanks, but I'm more concerned with how easy it is to do than how it looks. At the moment I manually change all the names using search & replace, but it's tedious and I could'nt be bothered doing it with most hands even if I really want some feedback on them.
