What are your thoughts on this? Do you find it more profitable? Easier to play?
Im asking cuz im interested in possibly fooling around a little in it.

6max requires a completely different point of view to play profitably. it depends on reads a lot more. since there's only 5 opponents you need to immediately pick out which person you are taking money from at the table, and crush them individually.
6max is all about aggression. if everyone folds to you on the CO, and you have a decent hand you might call with, raise. not only will you buy the position by making the button fold, you will often get the pot by betting again on the flop when your opponents miss.
playing UTG is open raise or fold. do not limp here unless the table is passive. the risk of getting raised behind you is too great. if someone is consistently limping UTG, you can put a big fish tag on them.
the single most important thing about 6max is position. by far the worst position is 3 handed in middle position. you cannot control whatsoever how the hand goes. the button you get information. first to act you can checkraise the button who bets, or bet out to build a pot. middle position you can't do either.
IMO 6max is more profitable if you understand shorthanded play. however, the swings will be greater.
in full ring you can camp out for the big hands and get paid off. heck, you can be UTG and limp profitably with A2s, knowing you'll have 4 or 5 people after you limping. speculative hands go way down in value in 6max. high cards and pocket pairs go way up.

It's fun, and more profitable for me on an hourly basis (not necessarily on a per hand basis). There are two types of players you can easily identify and hammer. The overly aggressive player, and the loose passive limper.
It is not easy. A lot of the plays I make leave me with a queasy feeling, but over 15K hands, I have come to know them as correct.
My SD at 6-max is 18 BB/100 hands. At full ring it is about 12 BB/ 100 hands.

I play 5/10 6 max because the games are incredibly profitable. There is very little good material on how to play short-handed, which I think contributes to the great conditions. LAggy players like them better because they don't get punished as harshly as they do at a full ring game. Full ring players come over and do ok, but often play too tight and fold too much.

More decisions = good for the good player && bad for the bad players ;

That was me. I also didn't like the swings. I play 5/10 full ring now.
