Couple weird things I have noticed:
right now PS has 1 table of $1/2 9 handed and 5 of $2/4?
Almost everyone at the 9 tables at either amount seems to buy in much shorter? There are some shorties at 6 max but not nearly as high a %?

I think at FR you can get a lot more of your stack in PF if there is an open and more callers PF.
It's why shortstacking PLO at lower limits is def. +EV (not as +EV as fullstacking if you're good) because of all the dead money PF 20-30bb stacks can easily commit their entire stack in PF and just suck up the variance of a bunch of 60/40s.
I've been debating buying in for $40 at $200plo and running up stacks. Not ratholing but starting with $40 and just building stacks.
Looking at $1/2 there are 2 FR tables and like 15 6-max tables. Interesting, you think if you were to play a really tight PF style you'd want to play FR.
Looking at 50nl (25-30 6m and 10FR) the avg. pot sizes seem to be bigger at 6max than FR.

interesting, I had not thought of pot size with limpers, good call.
def there are two flavors of shorties - people who randomly felt like QT98 one suit, and people who do the building thing and play like rocks. I saw one known $40 BI guy (1/2) with 1k in front of him the other day. Seems weird to me but w/e. I usually look for tables with people who are not bought in full and unknown. I had a guy put like 70 bucks in yesterday on a JJ7r board with 44xx no draw
Sitting at 1 9 handed table now, we're running 36 hands/hour

slotbloom? or someone ahs an article/book on this.
Belives that you can buy in short play like a nit and get 2 and 3 times your short buy in into the pot preflop/on the flop with good equity (eg AAxx etc)
While i can see the merits of his strategy, the online plo midstakes games are just really poor, anyone rolled deep enough who can play a bit should be trying these out

you're thinking of Rolf Slotboom. Just posting it if anyone wants to search... Don't know if he wrote about this specifically, but he sure has a couple of books about Omaha, so it might be him.

I was gonna use 2000FPPs to get his book from Stars, then I read the reviews on it and they were mostly mehhhhhhh. The book goes into detail about short-stacking a building stacks, which could be useful I think at like 5/10 and up, but like Miff said anyone with a club can buy-in full and beat the small-mid stakes games.

i just got it from FPP store today, I already have ciaffone, hwang and reuben so I figured may as well. I can't ever see short stacking but may as well learn how they are trying to play. It's a thick book anyway.

When I played at AP I would buy-in ~75bb and stay after I doubled, but there were a lot of players that would buy-in 150-200bb so I'd be playing with mostly their money.
I would personally buy-in for 40bb instead of 20bb because you can still play a bit. If you're buying in 20bb you're supposed to limp/push your big hands pre (assumes a raise and a couple calls).

I'm about 2/3 through now.
The short stacking strategy felt silly to me. Basically it's find a 'maniac', sit to his right, limp AA/KK, wait for him to raise and a couple other people to call, then shove over. I don't see how you can expect to set up this scenario very often, and if it worked you'd think you would still be better off buying in full if people are so bad it was working.
But, that's only 40 pages of the book or so. He has a lot of good stuff for big stacked play, and a lot of general topics that cover either way.
For a beginner, I would say it's:
Omaha Poker by Ciaffone
Hwang
Rolf
Reuben
If you know what you're doing I would skip Ciaffone.
All are worth reading for sure.
