i don't like it. from the looks of it, he isn't gonna fold his AK either. just check and chop it. i have yet to see donks cap preflop without a really solid hand.

Why not raise/fold the turn?

I like the way you played it. The river check was pretty weak, so I like the bet and I don't see any reason to raise the flop or turn. Without a read, I think you have to assume this guy would call a turn raise with any pocket pair(except maybe 2s and 3s) and any T at this level of play, but he'd probably fold KQ/AJ/AQ and it would be iffy on trying to get him to fold AK, so in essence you are putting in the most money when behind and not getting any more when ahead with a slight chance of stealing a split pot. You have some slight showdown value in what is a fairly decent sized pot by the turn, so I like the calldown until he checks the river showing quite a bit of weakness.

Could op possibly check here assuming that big bad Fnord will bet with every preflop capping hand so he could raise?

I think it would be even funnier if he got check raised on the river here.

Jeff and I have had this argument a couple times.
I am a big fan of raising the turn and checking behind on the river with a wide range of hands with marginal showdown value.
Jeff likes to go to showdown cheaply,
I like to try to get my opponents to fold.

To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.
