Have run into this quite a bit lately at loose/passive tables.
5/10 Empire 6 handed
3 limpers and then me to act in the SB. Let's assume that the BB is very
passive, and seldom raises.
The 1st question. Is there there ANY hand I should not be completing with here? Me thinks I should play them all, as I am putting in 1/10th (voluntarily) of the pot to see the flop. I have been playing pretty much everything, when there is no fear of a BB raise.
The second question. How about two limpers, same circumstances? Seems good as well, but with hands like 10-2os, and 93os, etc I have been dumping. I want at least a 1 gapper (57os 68os) or higher holdings (J8os).
Any thoughts.

For the first, play the hand.
For the second, dump those garbage hands expect suited.

For the first question, may also dump ultra garbage hand suhc as 25 off suitd. It's just don't worth half a bet probably!

keep in mind you are in the worst possible position so even if you flop an unlikely 2pr, you won't be able to protect your hand against draws. i hate playing when i'm in the SB, even AA sucks in that spot unless it's NL.

I still stay away from the offsuit shit unless it's one of the better connectors (T9, 98, 87)

I'm even less inclined to play the offsuit junk here.

pls don't take my comments out of context.... i wasn't talking about the EV of AA, i was referring to the general difficulty of protecting your hand when in bad position.

I'll take any chance I get to play two suited cards from the small blind. If they aint suited, I aint playin (aside from normal betting/raising hands). I will play if at least two other people are in the pot other than the Big Blind. I will change this due to the chance of a bet taking the pot.

Sorry, Fnord.. I meant 5/10 blind structure - (10/20) game
I am playing mostly 2/5 (5/10), and I am way more tight on the SB because a raise of $8 is pretty much a cold call. So, I am comfortable with how I approch the 2/5 blinds in the SB.
It's just that with 5/10 blinds, putting 1/10th in the pot to see the flop seems +EV. The biggest downside, is catching something you don't want.
Thanks for the input Fnord, Chez, Jeff, Hyper, Honsheung
