Lose the least, win the least. Would Button raise the turn on a draw?

Me thinks I finally have a theory. Not about Poker, but about forums.

After getting to know players handles on FTR, 2 + 2 and other sites, me thinks that it is much easier for players to say on a forum...

1. bet that damn river
2. easy value bet
3.u missed a bet on the river
4. no brainer, bet the river

etc.

But in action I see many of the same players slow down and check/call in virtually the same situations that they advocate an "obvious" river bet.

No slam on anyone in particular, but I do find this to be one of the rare truisms I know. It seems river scare cards are less scary when someone else is posting the results in a forum post, than they are in live action, and what we say we'd do is not always what we do....

Anyone else notice this?????

aye

We all do it and we all hate ourselves for doing it. Its one way we can better by not missing bets.

Sometimes I'll check the river on a scare to induce a bluff, which is complete different and sometimes the difference is hard to tell. I think I overdo it sometimes as I'll check the turn as well thinking he'll bluff at me, sometimes he does sometimes he doesnt. But one of my biggest leaks is missing bets which I am working on. It used to be blind play but I have gotten my blind numbers down pretty significantly that I have confidence in them doing real well. So, now its back to maximizing my bets!

A) I dont think this is an obvious river bet, because I'm not sure I can bet/fold here.

B) I am fully aware I am a river pussy. Type the phrase "river pussy" into the search function and you'll see my name OVER and OVER and OVER.

C) Midas: I don't give two shits about the button. I have the button beat. I'm 90% positive of that. I care about the CO. His play screams draw. Call flop, call two on the turn...

D) The river card sucks donkey balls for me. If CO was on a straight draw, he got me. If he was on a flush draw, he got me. What do you put him on that he calls two on the turn with? Whats the point of a read if you don't use it?

D) I really, really, hoped button would be smart enough to check behind the CO. I had to show the hand down, but I didnt want to pay more than one bet to do so. That's about the worst river card I could get, but when CO didn't donk it I was minorly assuaged.

I in no way consider this an "easy" river bet.

I'm not betting that river either based on the action.

He's only beating a pair of aces/two pair (based on the action and call) and with someone cold calling two bets, unless his read is that he is a completely donkey, its a check/call.

Then again, when I was at foxwoods playing 10/20 and 2 bet the river with the nuts (a straight) someone cold called the 2 bet with TPTK, so then again... you never know... but unless you are completely sure he's a donkey, its an easy check/call. but i am almost never folding, unless its to a river cap
Dealer: bencathers has two pair, Aces and Deuces
Dealer: Tbags has two pair, Kings and Jacks
Dealer: Tbags finished the tournament in 256th place
Tbags [observer]: another scumbag gets there on this site lol

i check/call here too. if you're betting, you have to fold to a raise, and this is one situation where i don't want to have to do that.

Looking at this hand again, i dont know how you can assume he has the diamond or the 8, as a player like him wouldn't be raising the turn here with that draw. He will more likely raise the ace or two pair. The river isnt THAT scary to your hand, but I think another Ace would have been.

Again, im not worried about the raiser. I'm worried about the guy who check called two on the turn.
