After my disastrous plays for the past 3 weeks, i had wonderful sessions in past 2 days. went from -90 BB to about -22 bb now !. I have also improved my play somewhat (or so i believe !!), thanks to all of you.

My 3 biggest lessons that I learnt over here at FTR is as follows:

1) Not cold call with broadway offsuit cards (AJo, KJo, QJo, K10o, Q-10o) etc. I used to do that a lot, dont do that anymore. still havent gotten savvy enough to lay down AQo to 3 bets. I am sure to pay a heavy price for that one of these days.

2) When raised on the turn, dont 3 bet them unless you have something good. TPTK doesnt count. I used to ram and jam on flop and turn with TPTK even after being raised on turn.

3) sometimes its good to check the river because sometimes the only hands that will call you are those that have you beat.

I would like to thank hypermegachi, Fnord, ChezJ, Element187, Rondavu, elipsesjeff, Demiparadigm, pokerfanatic01, Room, Tripps7, trikflow77, Yeldud and rest of the FTR people who gave took their time to analyze my game and give great advice.

Now its time to help me once again for my 5000 Hand checkup. Hope to make all of you proud by having better stats by the time its 10000 hands.

------------------------------------------------------------
Total Hands: 5099
VP$IP: 18.85
PFR: 6.63
VP$In from SB: 34.49
Folded SB to steal: 77.78%
Folded SB to steal: 73.33%
Attempt to steal blinds: 17.39%

Won$ When saw flop: 25.98%
Went to SD: 33.31
Won $ at SD: 52.15

Amount won: -22.19 BB
BB/100 -0.44
--------------------------------------
Position stats:

I will list the ones that are negative

Position------VP$IP----Net

BB-----12.93----- -179 BB
SB-----34.49----- -13.99 BB
7-----12.71----- -23 BB
4-----17.36----- -21.29 BB

All other positions in the green. Highest profit in position 2 (62 BB) and position 6 (37 BB)

So its obvious my Big blind play is HORRIBLE . What do i need to do to improve it ? I mean no matter how good i play, if i leak chips like i do in BB, there would be no hope !!
-----------------------------------------
Misc stats:

Known final hand summary: again listing the (-) ve ones. wow, those numbers are HORRIBLE. over -400 BB just in high card and one pair.

Final hand ----- WenttoSD ----- Won$atSD ----- Net
HighCard ----- 42 times ----- 19.05% ----- -246 BB
One pair ----- 132 times ----- 38.64% ----- -270 BB

I guess i went to showdown with high card a few too many times (those AK, AQ stupidity plays). and same with 1 pair i guess (going with A or K or Q paired despite being raised in turn or river !!)

another question, going to SD with one pair 132 times is a lot right.
-----------------------------------------

Huge profitable hands: AA, AKo, QQ, KQs, TT

Least profitable hands and huge loss makers : KJs, AQs, JTs, 44, AJo

Other Loss makers, that should be +ve by now, If i wasnt screwing up my game so bad : JJ, KK, AQo

-----------------------------------

As always, thanks in advance for your time and advice. I really appreciate all your help and look forward to coming back to (+)ve territory

from the numbers, your blind play sucks...a lot!

i think it's a HUGE problem when your steal rate is lower than your VPIP. steal more when it's folded to CO and Button. bring that preflop raise up to 10%.

folding in the SB steal is good, but folding the BB is way too high. put up a fight from time to time. you're not looking to way huge here, you're just looking to break even. the other option is to let them take your blinds and lose every hand.

randomly post a couple of your BB hands. that stat is hugely scewed for some weird reason and it may be just an insane amount of bad luck in that position.

are your misc stats with or without folding?

Hi Poker Learner

Knowing you aggression #s on each street would be helpful.

I am guessing that you still don't really have enough hands to get a read on your play by position, unless something really stood out outside of the blinds.

As far as the hands that u think are underperforming (JJ and KK), it's too soon to worry. What I would suggest, though, is go back in PokerTracker and replay the JJ KK hands and see whether or not you got bad beats or breaks, or whether you missplayed them.

For example, in 4000 hands my AAs has made about $180, and my KKs have made over $900. I reviewed this and found that I took down about 1/3 of AA wins pre-flop with no action, and I got busted a couple of times against two pair st8s, etc. With the KK, I have had way more trips than odds would dictate, and I have had some monster hands.

I am just saying don't be too worried THAT u are not making $ on KK, JJ, instead, check out WHY. I may have something to do with your play, and it may not. Most common mistake is taking these to showdown out of frustrartion, when you are 95% sure you are beat.

good luck

Actions ------------ AgressionFactor
Preflop ------------ 0.47
Flop --------------- 1.69
Turn -------------- 2.14
River ------------- 1.53
---------------------------
Total ------------- 1.02

Limp/call Reraise PF: Only 1 time

Misc Stats:

Originally it was:
Final hand ----- WenttoSD ----- Won$atSD ----- Net
HighCard ----- 42 times ----- 19.05% ----- -246 BB
One pair ----- 132 times ----- 38.64% ----- -270 BB

But after checking the "Show only hands that were not folded" the net number changed a lot. What does it mean.

Now it is:

HighCard-----------> -32.43 BB
One pair-----------> +126 BB
---------------------------------------------

Also regarding my poor Big Blind play, I will go through SSH again and see whats in there.

Can you guys give me a few pointers about how to succeed in BB.

If its raised to me when do i call the extra raise and when do i let it go? How many players need to be in the hand to call that extra raise if i have say any 2 suited cards. things like that.

I also went through my JJ games and I did find a lot of leaks. One of them was going to showdown even when there were 2 overcards showing (say a K and a Q, A and K, A and Q). At some places I bet on flop and someone raised with overcard on board and still went to showdown. I will review each of those hands again.

Thanks again for all your help

you need to be more aggressive on the flop. check raise more, bet out more, call less. push your pot equity edge a lot more.

checkin hands that you didn't fold only show the hands you go to show down with. you don't want all those times when you flopped a pair of 4s and 5s in that do you?

as for BB play, experience will help you best. just look at your odds. if you're getting 6:1 odds to call, those are very good for any suited cards with decent suited strength.

against only 1 raiser (a steal), you need to call with roughly half of your hands.

in SSHE, the beginning has a lot about pot odds and pot equity. go over that and ask yourself all the time, what your pot odds are (easy), and what your pot equity is (more difficult).

if you do that with JJ all the time, you and giving chips away on a silver platter, with no shipping cost for them.

Hyper - I see your points and have one question. At .5/1 is it really that important to get bogged down with blind defense and attempting to steal?

In my experiences, attempting to steal at Party .5/1 is useless because the blinds will call down with anything.

Also, I do not think the buttons and CO's are really attempting to steal as much as they are raising any 2 suited cards. Or, am I not giving my opponents enough credit at this level?

Thanks
If you put all your faith in the river, you are up shit's creek

it's true that at 0.5/1 they are less likely to "make moves." folding BB at 73% is still way too high.

normally it should be roughly 50%. you can probably do fine at 60% at 0.5/1.

having your steal rate below VPIP is a huge problem though.
