I play it the same, way to save a bet.

I limp preflop. If I were to raise, as you did, I bet the flop.

Big pot, strange opponent, too many outs.
I figure him for AK or a scared KK (less likely). vs AK I have a flush draw that's good 75% of the time and 2 tens. vs KK my flush draw is always good but my Tens are no good. The pot is already 10 BB and I have position, I have to call this. Given the strange nature of this opponent I considered a river call, but just couldn't get there...

With both the blinds tight, I have a very good chance of isolating the loose/passive player and putting dead money in the pot. Once tighty called I knew I could easily be drawing to runners on that flop, so a bet could just be spewing chips into a calling station + into a potential check/raise from the multi. So I opted for the free card.
