for a nit like me, the raising has been an eye-opener. stupid not to, i know. but, now that we are picking up value with the raise, where do we stop with a weaker flush? do we cap if we are 3bet? or do we need to chill at some point?

Except against the most maniacal players, I call a 3bet rather than cap. Most players see the 3rd flush card and make a crying call. A 3bet tells me they aren't afraid of the flush, so it's my turn for a crying call.
There are some players where this does not apply, but for the most part it is spew to cap with a weak flush unless you have notes on the guy capping a mid pair on a flush board.

This depends on your opponent and how he/she plays. Against some players, you should go nuts, against others you should play more cautiously.

understood. but, i am more referring to the "strength" of a 9 high, two card flush in a multiway pot where we are seeing action against an unknown player.
its hard to get "solid" reads on a lot of players down here because of the multitude of them, and the fact that we dont sit with the same players often. some we do, but most are relatively new...to us (under 50 hands).

We both know it is unlikely for him to have a bigger flush, so what's the problem? he'd bet an ace, 2 pair, maybe a k, a set. You have all of these beat. Easy raise
