CO is a little loose and passive. Cold calls with any 2 broadway.

River: (7.75 BB) J (3 players)

raise, every day of the week, twice on sundays, on realistic fear is a 2-pair with a jack in it, and he would've raise on flop or turn with that hand.

Fair enough. I wussed out on a couple other rivers today too.

I figure if I'm good he calls, if I'm not he caps. So I need to be good more than 50% here.

Given the passive read. He might also be screwing around with a bigger set or 2pr turned boat playing for over-calls. Also, what hands does he raise the river with?

Figure I beat:
KJ
QJ
J9s
J8s

Beat by:
AA
JJ
TT
AJ
JT

I'll do the math tomorrow. Gonna pack it in...

With any of these hands, I'm quite sure he would have raised you on the turn.

First example:

Preflop he cold-calls your raise, if he had a good hand, like AA or KK theres a good chance he'd reraise. Cold Calling range could be Ax to KT or even pocket pair.

You bet the flop, he again just calls you, he likes his hand enough to call, but not enough to raise? The turn again you bet and he just calls. If he was going to raise with AJ with two pair now would be the time to do it. I'm thinking he's got either an A or the J, but not both. The river, you bet and he raises. He's either got the boat or trips, or just Top two pair. He can't put you on a boat so he is thinking his trips are good enough. Raise him and take the rest of his money.

I've had people raise me here in this situation with just an Ace, thinking they'll split the pot because of the board. I've also had people just raise because they were stupid. If they have the boat, you should be glad to pay the man off.

Second Example:

Raise! You should stop playing when you get this passive fnord!!! Come on, you know better. He could be raising with the flush or with the straight, both of which you pwn. If he's got anything better than that you have to be willing to pay him off. You are going to win this 99 times out of 100, make him pay.

i raise them both. you're ahead way too often to miss value bets. the 1st hand they are likely just betting trips. if they had 2 pair like JT, they should raise your bet on the turn to drive the other dude out because the board was a 2 flush. but of course he might not know anything about protecting hands...anyways you end up losing the same if he does or doesn't protect his hand.

second hand, i think the raise was just "sweet i got my runner runner flush" and the call was "hmmm i have a mini flush, it might be good" and then you tap them out for 2 more bets.

but of course given your recent bad run of cards you probably lost both of these :P

Raise that first hand likes theres no tomorrow. It looks like youll win this about 45% of the time (approximation). Think about alot of the hands people call down with: Top pair/weak kicker, Second best pair hoping to hit his kicker, flush draw, straight draw.

In all of those situations, you have this guy beat. My guess is that he has KJ or QJ and was drawing to that sucker straight the whole time. He rivered trips which from playing his draw the entire time made his hand look like a premium holding. Take his roll.

You've gotta figure that in either of those hands, if someone had the hands they needed to beat you, they would have been raising you the entire way rather than just calling.
