8/16 at hustler. villain is a weirdo. he came to play 6/12, accidentally sat at 8 /16 table, and i goaded him into staying because we were shorthanded at the time. (this was -EV)

he turns out to be loose passive preflop and likes to take shots at buying pots postflop. he's raised into the best hand once or twice already.

i am in seat 2 and UTG; he is in the CO in seat 7.

i have AsAd

I raise pre, he 3 bets, seat 9 calls, i 4-bet, both call

flop is A94 rainbow.

i bet, both call

turn is 7, making a 4 suited board. i bet, both call

river is 8, i bet he raises. seat 9 folds.

now what do i do?

Easy 3bet, maybe even easy 5 bet. I know live players are extremely passive, especially on the river, but if he has a straight there after his 3bet preflop and flop call, I'm willing to pay him off some more. He could easily be raising with A7-A9 or a set here. Maybe even some worse big ace hands.
Some days it feels like I've been standing forever, waiting for the bank teller to return so I can cash in all these Sklansky Bucks.

3bet, no questions asked, if he caps... then you may actually think about straights.... not that u could ever fold at that point.

i did indeed 3-bet. he 4-bet, and even though there is no cap heads up, i called thinking the monster must actually be under the bed.

villain had JTo, won $419, and was obnoxious about havibng "outplayed" me the rest of the night.

i would have carried this beyond 5 bets before i called. you said he already has raised into the best hand and likes to take shots at pots post flop.

that buys me past the cap before i think, "no way he runner runnered JT." but, i also dont keep the raising going without the nuts.

just tell him his chase was warranted and buy him a beer. you'll have your money back soon enough.
