Two consecutive great loosing hands :P

I think I played this one right:

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q, Q. CO posts a blind of $2.
UTG calls, 3 folds, CO (poster) checks, 2 folds, Hero raises, UTG calls, CO calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) 5, T, Q (3 players)
Hero bets, UTG folds, CO calls.

Turn: (4.25 BB) 2 (2 players)
Hero bets, CO calls.

River: (6.25 BB) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 8.25 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Qh Qc (three of a kind, queens).
CO has 9d 7d (flush, queen high).
Outcome: CO wins 8.25 BB.

And this one bad:

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (8 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, K.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, 1 fold, MP2 calls, 1 fold, Button calls, Hero raises, 1 fold, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls, Button calls.

Flop: (9 SB) 6, 7, 2 (4 players)
Hero bets, UTG+1 folds, MP2 calls, Button calls.

Turn: (6 BB) 2 (3 players)
Hero bets, MP2 calls, Button calls.

River: (9 BB) 4 (3 players)
Hero bets, MP2 calls, Button folds.

Final Pot: 11 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Ah Kc (one pair, twos).
MP2 has 6h Th (two pair, sixes and twos).
Outcome: MP2 wins 11 BB.

1) nothing you can do about that
2) happens to me all the time

Slight hijack...

Something I am interested in is proper play of the opponent's hand in hand two. A small pair with a mid kicker and no real draws is one of those hands where I am tempted to just fold b/c I have a really hard time protecting.

I've had similar situations to hand 1 happen to me a couple times already. I don't think there's much you can do. When he finally comes alive on the river and there's a flush on the board, you're probably beaten, but it's worth the call.
Winner didn't even know it was a pie-eating contest

hand 1: i bet the river, there's no reason to think he has the flush
hand 2: do you think the turn bet will make either or them fold? i might consider checking the turn.

sed: if you have a read on the player as agressive, you can call it down when big cards that might match his hand dont hit (like an A or a K in this hand). otherwise, you can just count all your outs (2 pair, trips, back door draws) and decide whether pot odds justify it. In this case, i would say he has 1 out to the backdoor straight, 2 for trips and 2.5 (not 3 because someone might have the flush) outs for two pair. Thats about 1:7.5 you will make it and you are getting 1:11 to call the flop. The turn doesn't help your backdoor draw, so now you only have 5 outs which gives you 1:8 to call and you are getting 1:7, but you can assume you can make up that extra bet if you hit on the river so he can call the turn too.

That's how I do it, but I might be too liberal in counting outs. Let me know if anyone thinks this is way off.

hand 1: comes with the territory.
hand 2: you have correct odds to bet the turn, but once you get called, you have to know you are beaten. check-fold that river.
