Yes--seems clear. In the second hand, after you checked the turn, no one with a pair is folding at 5.75 to one. If yoù're willing to spend a bet to try to win something, you might induce a bluff by checking then calling...

Just read the first response to the OP and I thought, what a douche, 6 word response, then I realized I posted it. If you want to spend an extra bet on hand 2 I do it on the turn, not the river. The river bluff after a checked turn is not a good play IMO. I would rather put the bet in on the turn.
Hand 1 is tricky b/c the only ace I would put him on actually came on the turn (he could cap the flop with AhKh)
I think he flopped either a set or top two. Either way I do not see what you can be ahead of on the turn except 99/TT. That's quite a small range...

Hand 1: to me it seems he already has you crushed even w/o the Ace easy fold for me...
Hand 2: depends on the opponents here, if they would call bottom ass pair on the river then this is an obvious stupid bet... with no reads i would check, even with reads i check majority of the time...

Hand 1: I did indeed fold, quite possibly would do so against any undercard too. Smelled too much of a set, or at least of a maniac + FD
Hand 2: I bet and was called... I still took down the pot. I knew once I was called I had to be beat. Apparently opp thought A9o was good.
