Hi guys,

first of all I have a specific poker etiquette question regarding B&M. I was at B&M yesterday (regular there ) and this situation came up.

by the river the board was: K-10-2-9-10

First guy had K-9, Other guy had K-5. I FOLDED PREFLOP so not in the hand. The dealer announced the first guy as the winner of the hand and I pointed out that he was wrong. it should be split because both play K-10 and then the dealer said first guy plays 9 kicker, I said that so does the other guy who plays the 9 on the board. The K-5 guy was clueless .

Long story short, the first guy was very upset and shook his head and gave me a dirty glance. Thats when I realised that I had made a grave mistake. I apologised to the first guy and told him I didnt mean him any harm. I Just reacted instantaneously by mistake.

But from etiquette point of view, if i am NOT IN THE HAND and the dealer makes a mistake can I point it out if i am playing at the table ?

Thanks for the answer in advance.
---------------------------------------------------3 hands from yesterday (2-4)----
Hand 1:
I had 4-4 in the BB (raised preflop by MP1) . Hit my set on the turn. I lay down my baby PP EVERY SINGLE time to 1 or 2 over cards but on yesterdays hand all 7 people went to the flop and I was getting something like 20:1 to hit my set on the turn, everyone was called/were going to call the flop bet by MP1.

I check raised the turn when my 4 hit and built a huge pot. However the river brought a card that could make 2 different straights possible (not four to a straight, but someone playing 2 combination of 1 gaps)

Board on river was: 2-5-9-4-7

When I bet the river, MP1 called, MP2 called, and I got raised by Button. Do you reraise here or just call ?

---------------------------------------------
Hand 2:

I raise from CO with AQ0. and get called by 4 players (2 blinds).

Flop: A-Q-5 (Ace and Queen of clubs).
checked to me, I bet get called by all 4.

Turn: A-Q-5-7
checked to me, I bet get called by all 3.

River: A-Q-5-6-9 (no flush possible)
SB leads out ? Do you raise, I would raise online everytime, but at B&M with players so passive and me being preflop raiser, and SB check calling all the way and betting the river, what should i do ?
--------------------------------------------------
Hand 3:
Hero has AA in MP2
Hero raises, 4 people call. Hero has bought the button and in position.

Flop: A-K-6 rainbow.
checked to Hero, Hero bets, SB raises, 2 other people call.

Turn: A-K-6-9
checked to Hero, Hero bets, 3 people call.

River: A-K-6-9-10
checked to hero, Hero bets, 3 people call.

SB had K-8.

question: I just called the raise on the flop hoping the SB would lead out and I could raise him the turn as I had a lock on it on the rainbow board. However, SB never led out. Was my not 3 betting a bad move. I didnt want to give my really strong hand away and then maybe 3 people dont call the bigger streets.

-------------------------------------------

I am going through an unbelievable run right now . I wish my game was better and I could play like Fnord, Hyper or Elipsis. ). I could be raking in the $$. Up about 225$ in 2 days (5 hour session total!!). I have quite a lot of leaks in my game. If you FTR guys came to play in this casino, you guys would never play online again. $$ waiting for you to rake it in.

* In last 2 days I havent had a single big hand cracked. All AK, AQ, KK, JJ have held up whenever I paired up on flop. I have missed some 14, 15 out draws but mainly all big hands holding up, no sucking out.

* Hit 4 sets last night (2 times set of Aces, 1 time set of 4 and 1 time set of Jacks which was capped preflop ). All 4 held up.

* cracked AA with set of QQ day before yesterday.

Good enough to get me through the days when the run goes bad (as it INEVITABLY WILL).

Meh. Being a nit probably doesn't do much for your table image. On the other hand, I'd probably feel guilty if I noticed and didn't say anything. On a third hand that I borrowed just for this post, it's the K5 guy's own fault for not knowing the rules. On a fourth hand that I purchased in a second-hand shop (more like a fourth-hand shop am i rite), it's really the dealer's job to make sure the winner of the pot is declared correctly. Meh, I don't really know.
TylerK: its just gambling if i want to worry about money i'll go to work lol

I had the same thing happen at a b&m. Two pair on the board and dude next to me had 33 (a three pair hand). Dealer gave him the pot at showdown and I said "why did he win?" Dude said, "I had pocket threes." I said, "board paired twice, your three was a kicker". The other player was pissed and the dealer argued about there being two pair out. I realized that it probably wasn't my place so I just backed off. The pocket 3s guy finally gave a few chips to the real winner. As far as etiquette goes. . .? I don't know. Of course the declared winner would be mad but I guess the question is, "do the cards play themselves or does the player have to announce their hand?" If the cards alone declare the winner then what you did shouldn't be considered improper.

Grats on some good hands. I'd [re]raise in all three spots you mentioned - in live limit games you might as well make 'em pay because it seems like everyone's on a draw.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.

Hand 1: Button had 2 pair. I just called thinking that he made the straight since I checkraised everyone on turn and led out on river. shouldve reraised

Missed about 2-4 AT LEAST BB there, because they were all calling stations.

Hand2: I just called and didnt reraise. I would reraise that every day online but b&M you never know. SB had AK...what a way to play AK. Never 3 bet preflop . Check called all the way till the river and then led out.

Missed2BB there (SB and the other dude wouldve called).

Hand 3: still waiting for advice

If the pot goes to a weak player (probably not the case because the good player would notice) I wouldn't say anything because those chips are a lot easier to get off of that weak player. If the good player was given the pot, I'd say something because I know it will be harder to get the chips from him.

If my pot gets pushed to the wrong player I'm calling the floor over. Don't argue with the other guy and don't get into it with the dealer. Just politely ask the floor to arbitrate.

If it's not your pot, either shut up or suggest they call the floor over because "I'm confused too, 3 pair isn't a poker hand."

This is exactly why I say "Thanks <name>" and spiff the floor when I leave after a winning session at places I frequent. Quite often they'll also bend wait list rules for me and help me get onto the best lists and tables. I've also been asked a couple times by the floor what I saw in hands where I had folded pre-flop to resolve disputes.

In my B&M experience dealers have made MANY mistakes (not knocking them, I know I would screw it up too) and everytime (that I've noticed anyway) the other players at the table, even those not in the hand immediately speak up and correct the dealer.

There have even been a couple times where the dealer was screwing me over (not intentionally of course) and I was grateful for the other players paying attention because I was new to the B&M scene.

So my point of view is, say something. If that player was mad about not getting the pot when it should have been split, he's an idiot and should leave.

I also like fnord's response to a situation like this. This way you're bringing less attention towards yourself.

Dealers are human too GASP! They make mistakes like anyone, but there are a few things to help them out. First, cards speak no matter what. If a hand is flipped up, it plays regardless of what happens. One guy had KT with AxJxQ on the board and he flipped up thinking K high was good and i saw his straight, but the dealer did not and mucked the cards. I immediately grabbed the attention of the dealer and told him he showed KT for a straight. The dealer apologized and said the hand was live even though it hit the muck because it was flipped over. If anything goes bad, call the floor and get them to go to the eye in the sky.
