Is it stupid to be willing to let him cap after standing pat with a lowish boat?
Doesn't villain have to have a boat to cap against a pat hand? And there's only one lower boat..?

A flush or straight is much more likely.

Just calling his raise would be extremely weak. I think how you played it is good.
