I've been working on my postflop plays, especially on playing the nuts slowly without a redraw. What do you think of this hand?
Ultimate Bet Pot-Limit Omaha High, $.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)
Button ($70.78)
SB ($31.10)
BB ($4.75)
UTG ($12.47)
Hero ($24.97)
CO ($8.25)
Preflop: Hero is MP with 4 , J , A , 9 .
UTG calls $0.25, Hero calls $0.25, CO calls $0.25, Button calls $0.25, SB completes, BB checks.
Flop: ($1.50) 8 , 5 , Q (6 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero checks, CO checks, Button checks.
Turn: ($1.50) T (6 players)
SB bets $1.5, BB calls $1.50, UTG folds, Hero calls $1.50, CO folds, Button folds.
River: ($6) 6 (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $4, SB folds, BB folds.
Final Pot: $10

I think here since you have the best straight and you can make the higher straight if the K comes you should raise the turn and make people pay to draw to their flushes.

This is not my signature. I just write this at the bottom of every post.

sure, it's not much of a redraw.
but your position, in conjunction with the K outs, make it a raise in my opinion.

Yea, the only thing that made me want to raise was my position. I wasn't even factoring the King redraw in there. I also think I should get looked up here a lot more on the river by smaller straights and sets because of my passivity on the turn and the blank river card.

If this is the flop I like it a lot. With only one card I'm not sure you need to slow down. If you raise turn you may get CO & BTN to fold so you're last to act on the river and can check behind scare cards. Also, you'll get calls on the turn by flush draws, baby straights or sets, so you're making more money from them as betting the river. If the river is complete blank (as what happened) you could put the rest in and hope the baby straight still looks you up. If someone raised the turn I would be happy to get it all-in.
I haven't run into anyone imaginative enough to donk bluff a river scare card so a PSB river bet on a paired/flush board is an easy fold IMO.

I like this a lot and cannot believe I didn't realize it before.

Wait until I get over to stars bub. You'll start seeing it. I will always bet the scare card if checked to and I lead it a lot if I have been c/c 2 streets. It's all about having enough showdown value (i.e.-top 2 bottom set) to make it a combo bet where better players will fold strong holdings and the calling stations will look you up. Of course this is before reads take effect and we figure out who's who. Then, we exploit the hell outta them.
Yesterday I had a few good hands to illustrate these combo bets but sadly I was too tilted (see my thread about folding the best hand in a 900bb pot on the river) to post any hands.
