It also depends on the table.
If some idiot is mashing raise at every chance pre-flop you need to tighten up overall. If it's a loose/passive limpfest then you can play a lot more hands getting a cheap flop and/or crap hands protecting your equity when a monster raises. If it's a tight table or tight with 1-2 live ones, you're actually playing an extra hand here and there from the last 4 positions in an effort to isolate/steal the blinds and/or bad players.
