I went over 2+2 yesterday and found some discussion of winholdem, the MSNBC article, and bots in general.
It appears that WinHoldem has had some success in the microlimits, but not much. Basically, WinHoldem just isn't that great of a player.. The primary concern at 2+2 is whether or not it is possible to create the ultimate uber poker bot that is capable of playing well at the higher limits.
If you could create a bot that could consistently make even a small amount of money, say 0.5 BB/hour, then imagine profit potential of having the bot 3 tabling at 15 different online poker rooms 24 hours a day. That alone should be enough motiviation for the great poker minds/software engineers to be working on developing such a bot. If such a bot were designed, and the creator released the source, then online poker would probably be destroyed.
Even more intriguing, there is speculation at 2+2 that such a bot may already exist. Apparently there is a screenname on Pokerstars who plays the highest limit game (I forget the exact stakes) like 24 hours a day and always has a huge stack in front of him. The fact that this guy is on 24/7 leads many to believe that he is either a bot or multiple people playing under the same name.
As a side note, imagine the edge the bots could gain by having 2 of them sit at the same table and card share.
Another side note, there is also talk around the internet that an online poker room called Pokertropolis constantly has bots playing in order to keep their tables filled up.
