What kind of strategies do you guys typically use when you play freerolls?
I usually play p-room's freerolls(1800 people) and usually don't have a problem at least getting into the top 100, even when I play badly. It's usually not until that point that people start playing real poker.
The problem I often have is that I'll reach a certain point in chips and then have a really tough time getting above that. I usually hit the bump around 20k and then it's hit or miss. The blinds at that point are enough that I've gotta start making some moves at bluffing at pots.
I don't ever worry about reading the table in the first 45 minutes or so. I'll often take all in chances with group 0 or 1 hands against the really loose players and more often than not it pays off. Also, I just slowplay a lot and let the idiots bluff away. Once I get around 7-10k, I'll slow down and pick my battles more carefully. At that point I start taking a few chances, calling all-ins of the short stacks with hands as low as group 3-4.
Once I get up to around 50k or so, I don't have trouble getting into the money.
So what types of styles do you guys usually play in freerolls?
