I always thought a HUD would be not that great either, then once I started using one I discovered many regs I 'knew' were much looser/tighter than I thought. Also it's hard to keep track of shorties, and you really want to know if they are the 15/0 or 52/10 types.
Depends on stakes and table #, but anyone playing 25 plo+ should have it, def worth two BIs or w/e. 3 bet % alone is worth it. And Jyms is right about the equity. it is not at the table, there is a replayer where you see the street by street.
Why can't you learn how to play the game and have a HUD? That logic never made any sense to me. take some HUD breaks if you want 'feel' play. And or play less tables. FWIW I used all your arguments against HUDs before I started using them for HE and I was wrong too.
I've done substantial amounts of playing both ways and I would be really surprised if you did not prefer the HUD.
